Commemorated on the Coleshill Grammar School Memorial, Percy Bloor was born on 26th July 1896 in Over Whitacre, Warwickshire. His parents were Peter and Elizabeth Bloor, and the family farmed at Holt Hall, Over Whitacre, in 1911. His father remarried and Percy’s stepbrother was John F Blackshaw. Percy and John were the same age and attended The Coleshill Grammar School together. Percy enlisted in the 2nd Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Shustoke (service number 17372). Private Bloor was killed in action on 28th June 1917 and is buried in the Mory Abbey Military Cemetery, France. He was awarded the Victory and British medals.
